Corrections come first

If you believe a figure, a release date, or a statement on this site is wrong, please say so. Corrections are the most useful message we can receive, and they are taken seriously rather than defended.

To make it fast to check, it helps if you can include:

• the page and the specific figure in question,
• what you believe the correct value is, and
• the source you are comparing against, if you have one.

Every published figure is computed from named public-domain series and cross-checked against the issuing agency, so a mismatch usually points at a real bug on our side. Two examples of errors found this way have already been fixed and documented: a year-over-year calculation that drifted by one month because a CPI release was never published during a government shutdown, and a producer-price series that quoted a different measure than the one the press reports. Both were corrected and written up rather than quietly patched.

Questions about the data

Useful things to ask about:

• How a number is produced — the method is set out in what is an event study? and in full on the methodology page.
• Which series we use and why — every page lists its exact source series. The choice of "headline" series for each release is deliberate and documented.
• What we deliberately do not cover — equity indices, the VIX, gold and consensus forecasts are all excluded because they are licensed or proprietary. The about page explains that constraint.

Reusing our figures

The underlying data comes from U.S. government sources in the public domain, and our computed figures and charts are free to reuse. A link back is appreciated but not required. If you want a fuller extract than the site shows, ask — the database is generated from a scripted pipeline and is straightforward to export.

What we cannot help with

We do not provide investment advice, portfolio guidance, or forecasts, and we cannot answer questions about what a given release means for a particular position. Nothing on this site is financial advice — please read the Disclaimer.

We are also not affiliated with the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Federal Reserve, or any other agency whose data appears here. Questions about the underlying statistics themselves are best directed to the issuing agency.
